Ben Fischer scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the 7th inning to give the Aggies a 5-4 walk off victory over St. Croix Prep at US Bank Stadium.
St. Croix Prep (1-2) scored 3 runs in the first inning and appeared to be cruising along until the Aggies tied the game with 3 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning. St. Croix scored an unearned run in the top of the 5th but St. Agnes answered back in the bottom of the 5th when Ben Fischer scored on a passed ball.
Darius Lopez started the game and pitched 6 2/3 innings but had to leave the game because he reached the mandatory pitch count limit set by the MSHSL. Lopez scattered 5 hits and struck out 10 St. Croix batters. Sophomore Tommy Schmidt replaced Lopez in top of the 7th to record his first win.
Saint Agnes is 1-0 and will travel to Brooklyn Center Wednesday to open the Tri Metro Conference season.
